As I type this.. I’m drowning out to the new DOOM – Born Like This Album... because in order for me to write this … I have to be in the mindset of a villian (echo: VILLIAN)… It’s amazing how time flies by.. Especially when you find out .. the same kid you remember in diapers… is now making beats.. while dropping some knowledge over a mic… It’s like WOW… This is the same exact feeling Darth Vader felt .. when he saw the younger Anakin through Luke… and in this case … I see it in this fellow right here… and in this case.. I think we ( Jay and I) would both side with man in the black mask … Because who wants to see Luke Sky Walker in white tights and a terrible haircut .. when you could be taking style pointers from the super villian.. who rocks a voice box on his chest.. and the freshest black suit ever… oh .. and a cape…. Since youth.. I have always been fascinated with the villian…( Magneto – x-men.. Shredder – Ninja Turtles… Knuckles -Sonic).. and it’s because.. they didn’t care… if they screwed your girl and ran away with the money.. But (long pause).. I will not stand here and say … I don’t have a list of favorite Super Hero’s .. because I do… (Gambit … Wolverine .. Superman etc.)…So it makes perfect sense… that I write about the exact same person … who understands that the Villian gets all the women.. and all the money… and who understand that even though you play the Villian.. at the end of the day you still have a day job.. and thats to spread a positive message… Which my boy Jay Sentine has always done with his lyrics and beats ( R.I.P. J-Dilla) …
So without Further-A-Due… I introduce you guys to the supervillian ….. Jay Sentine

Peep This: Jay Sentini gets personal with a one-on-one Q&A .. he also..drops off a couple Gems for your ears
T&C: Who is Jay Sentine?
JS:Jay Sentine is just someone trying to resurrect the 5 elements of hip hop instead of just one or two. Whether its me doing artwork(drawing, painting, etc,) music production, rhyming, or DJing, its all different elements of hip hop or music in general that i’m bringing to the table.
T&C: Explain your fascination with The Transformers?
JS:Well, for starters, that was my favorite cartoon back in the days. My favorite characters was Megatron & Starscream. I’m down with the supervillians. Transformers also has alot to do with human spirituality as far as the characters wanting the “all spark”(the source of creating life which is a metaphor for man and woman and the ANKH or symbol of life) and also the characters not being able to function with their own individual spark (which is a reflection of the crown shakra studied in Egyptian Sciences). But during the late 70s and early 80s, there was a gang out in Brooklyn called the decepticons, and me being from Brooklyn makes me feel like i should raise that energy back, but in a positive art form.
T&C:Explain how did the decepticons play a part in your life?
JS: My pops was apart of the Decepticons crew out in Brooklyn back in the days, and so was my uncles. That played a big part in my life because of the way I was raised by all of them and their street mentality. Imagine a street cat raising you and treating you as if you was just a regular hood nigga. It raised me to be a hard headed, hip hop kid.
T&C:When did you start taking this music thing serious?
JS: I think its so generic when rappers be like, “i’ve been rhyming since i was four years old” and all that other bullshit, but i was doing music early in my life. I didn’t start making beats until i was in the 10th grade though. It was all about the rhymes to me back then. It still is but, when i got to the point where the beats was actually dope enough for me to sell for a large amount, I took music production further than anything, You’ll never hear a wack verse from me in your life though. When I got to college and met a hip hop group called “M-1 Platoon”, they kinda guided and mentored my style and craft. Look out for them, those my boys.
T&C: Describe yourself with three artists?
JS: DILLA, RAEKWON, MADLIB…too ill!!! lol
T&C: In your opinion.. name me your top 3 producers of all time?
JS: Alright, from bottom to top…#3 is premo, #2 is pete rock, and #1 in my opinion is the late great James Yancey, Jay Dee, J Dilla, Pay Jay, or whatver you wanna call em.
T&C: Other than Hip-Hop… what other types of music do you keep on heavy rotation?
JS: Alot of Experiemental music, and artist by the name of Deadelus to be exact. Alot of Jazz Samba, and alot of House music. I also do Jazz Smaba and House as well. I just dropped a jazz samba ep available for download on my myspace.com/jaysentine. http://www.zshare.net/download/5618479855941ed0/
JS: Well, I got a hook up at the famous hip hop vinyl spot in NY called Fat Beats. Hopefully ya’ll see my LP in fat beats, but i’ve been a fan of the whole aspect of hip hop on viynl because thats what I like to call “the Melaninated Disc”…lol
T&C: What can we expect from Jay Sentine in the next year?
JS: The LP “Live From Cybertron”. It will be my first album release with 90% of it produced by myself. Got DJ gigs lined up in NC, so im just working alot right now. Im working on a couple of beats for some big names so be on the look out for them.
T&C: Do you have a team? If so ? who are the players?
JS: Yes…The Decepticons! consisting of myself playing three characters (Jay Sentine the MC, Megatron the alter ego, and Buttery King Jewels the Jazz Composer) I got another producer with me named Jerry McClarin, and My boy Zo who is also an MC from D.C.. I’m in another crew right now called Monkey Armz consisting of myself (MC and Producer) and my boy Legit (MC)
T&C: Explain to me your style of dress?
JS: Crazy..i like colors, but not on no gay shyt. To give a brief discription…Pink bathing ape x g shock watch, with a supreme fitted cap, a stussy, crooks and castle, hundreds, or ralph lauren shirts, a couple of nike air structures, foamposites, and i keep a pair of clark wallabees on me tho..lol
T&C: Any Shout Outs?
JC: Mos definitley…shout out to my boy Legit (Monkey Armz), M-1 Platoon ( Napalm, Arafat, Chopps, Jesus, Sean D, Scoopay), Jerry McClarin, and BROOKLYN!!!!
